1. the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, esp. as the result of deliberate effort.
 
2. an approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasizing treating diseases.
 
 

There is an enormous difference between treating the illness the patient has and treating the patient that has the illness.  Traditional healthcare focuses on illness, not wellness; Plain and simple. So, in order to help someone they must already have something wrong. Waiting until someone is sick to help them is part of the reason we have the health care crisis in this country.

In wellness science you do not need to be sick in order to get healthier.  Wellness exists on a continuum and when people embrace certain lifestyle behaviors like healthy alignment, exercise and proper diet, they move further toward the wellness end of the continuum no matter where they started. If they have been sick, they get well and can often reduce or even eliminate prescriptions.  If they have not been sick, they may further enhance their chances of staying well and enhance their quality and quantity of life at the same time.

Our program focuses on the fact that a strong, vital, and fit body is the best defense against illness and a body that serves you is also your best tool for living the life of your dreams.  It’s is win /win scenario. 

Our program begins with the understanding that wellness is created by managing stress.  There are 3 key stressors one must reduce in order to achieve a state of optimum health:

  1. Physical stress
  2. Biochemical stress
  3. Psychological stress

Our Wellness Training begins with a lifestyle assessment in these three dimensions.  The assessment includes blood work, strength, cardiovascular and flexibility assessment, posture and alignment analysis, psychological stress profile, and body composition analysis. 

This information is compiled and entered into a formula that creates one number from 0-100 called your wellness quotient, or WQ.  A wellness quotient of 100 is theoretically perfect wellness.  Thirty Five or lower is “very challenged” while numbers above 75 are in the wellness range.  Participants are given a customized wellness program of alignment, exercise, nutrition and stress management.  They are assessed every two weeks during the 12 week period.   At 12 weeks we repeat all the parameters again and determine if you are ready for maintenance or need more time.
